Photographer Olia Kolendo

The exhibition “Christofle, a Brilliant Story” takes place at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs from November 14, 2024, to April 20, 2025.

Curated by Audrey Gay-Mazuel, this exhibition tells the story of Christofle, a famous brand started in the 1830s by Charles Christofle and Henri Bouilhet. It shows how they changed silverware, making it a part of everyday life in France.

The exhibition displays over 600 pieces of silver and gold items, along with paintings and drawings. These pieces come from the Bouilhet-Christofle Collection and other important collections. Visitors will see a variety of items, from small spoons to large furniture. The exhibition highlights the use of different metals, like silver and gold, and shows creations made for famous places like the Ritz hotel and the Orient Express train.

The exhibition has a modern design, making it easy to enjoy the displays. Visitors can learn about the craftsmanship behind these beautiful pieces, offering a behind-the-scenes look at how they are made.

Some important pieces in the exhibition include the Flèche (Arrow) Candelabra designed by Gio Ponti in 1928 and a Vase by Émile Reiber from around 1874. These items show the quality and creativity of Christofle.

Today, Christofle continues to create modern products. They make everyday items like video game consoles, coffee cups, and sneaker boxes, showing that they can adapt to current trends.

The exhibition also explores the history of decorative arts. It shows different styles, including Historicism, Japanism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, and modern designs. This helps visitors understand how goldsmithing has changed over time.

“Christofle, a Brilliant Story” celebrates the history of Christofle and its impact on design. The exhibition shows how tradition and innovation can work together in everyday life: exhibition includes activities for adults, children, families, and groups.
