Power & Image: Royal & Aristocratic Tiaras Exhibition

  • Power & Image: Royal & Aristocratic Tiaras Exhibition: 28 May–15 June 2022 London

    Representing a rare and historic gathering of fine jewels, this exhibition draws together over 40 outstanding tiaras including examples with British and European royal provenance. The assembled exemplars, most handed down through families for generations and seldom loaned for public display, include the Spencer Tiara worn by Diana, Princess of Wales on her wedding day.

    Their range reflects successive design evolutions in the format, prompted by monarchic taste, societal shifts and the influence from other art forms, through to contemporary jewellers redefining tiaras today. Included are a number of tiaras, available for purchase, from the new generation of contemporary British jewellery designers redefining the format again today.

    Among the most amazing tiaras are presented:

    Chinoiserie fantasy of the Westminster 1930 tiara commissioned from Lachloche

    @chatsworthofficial Devonshire tiara

    Queen Victoria’s emerald example

    @althorphouse @cthompsonroyds golden poppies and so many more treasures.

    Organised by @Sothebys London, 34-35 New Bond Street, the exhibition is free and unticketed.
